Building Roads Together is a community-based peer support walking and rolling program designed to reduce mental health inequities and promote inclusion by building capacity for people to lead peer walking/rolling groups. It is based on strong evidence that peer support; physical activity; and nature, alone and in
combination improve mental health.
The BRT Program Lead and Peer Leaders will lead participants on a sample BRT walk to Riverdale Farm. We will share stories of our journey from developing the program, to training, to leading groups; introduce participants to program strategies; and engage participants in sharing stories of their journeys and experience walking together.
We will capture our collective experience in photos, and audio/video recordings, to share on our website and social media accounts. Participation in this component is optional.
We hope to engage people in growing their social networks, and walking to promote their mental health, during 100in1Day and beyond.
